PLANNING YOUR PERFECT SELF-BUILD HOME

For the first time self-builder, making the decision to design your own home is usually the easy part - it’s from there you have a steep learning curve and so many more decisions in unfamiliar territory to consider.

Our mission is to provide you with the solid foundation that’s key to any successful project.

Whether that’s for a one-piece foundation slab from which the rest of your build is developed, to a single underground plant and utility room, to a full multi-room basement floor, with the same footprint as your whole house, or even larger.

Building plots can’t always provide unlimited height and above-ground space, but there’s almost always room for a basement, and it’s far more cost effective to create the space underground before you build up. This gives you the flexibility to adapt the usage over time, to suit your family’s changing needs.

We can offer a fixed price, turnkey basement package that takes as much or as little of our products and services as you require.

Thanks to our high-quality, tried and tested processes, a Glatthaar Keller prefabricated basement can often be installed within 3 to 5 weeks, depending on size and complexity. With a higher quality finish; time and money savings; guaranteed delivery dates; avoidance of lengthy on-site construction or delays due to bad weather.

See more information below on the many features that are now incorporated into all of our builds, developed over the last 40 years and many thousands of completed projects.

Why basements are an important factor when planning your perfect self-build home

Adding a basement to your self-build project can provide a much more comfortable and vibrant living space, and can add considerable value to your property, often at a cost of just 5% extra above the total costs of building your new home.

The work and expense that is required to create the necessary foundation slab is the same, regardless of whether you have a basement or not - it just requires a deeper hole to be dug and some extra soil to be removed from the site.

Then once you have the extra space available, your architect or home designer can move heating and plant equipment into the basement, to free up floor space at ground level. The extra rooms you have underground can be used in so many different ways, and our designers are on hand to develop layouts and a 3D perspective to help bring your ideas to life.
