Glatthaar Keller Delivers Complete Groundworks Package For Two New Nurseries

Two new nurseries have opened in Hamm Germany, providing a total of 130 childcare places, The project stands out for its highly efficient construction process. The client chose a fullservice approach by commissioning Glatthaar Keller to handle all groundworks. The company delivered everything from excavation to the finished concrete base slabs, giving the client a single point of contact and significantly streamlining the build.

Work began with the development of the site. Despite the tight schedule, Glatthaar Keller met every deadline. Both daycare buildings were handed over six months later, with the sports focused centre opening 1 month later, followed shortly up by the Waldorfinspired children’s nursery.

Glatthaar project manager Christoph Schmidt oversaw the entire process from planning and soil analysis to site coordination and execution. One of the key challenges was managing drainage near the Lippe River. Glatthaar Keller designed and installed a new stormwater retention basin and added a roadside infiltration system to ensure safe and sustainable water management.

The company also delivered several additional infrastructure components, including a wastewater pumping station with a 250 meter pressure pipeline and the full sub-base preparation for roads, turning areas, and parking spaces.

A major highlight of the project was the construction of 1,700 square meters of reinforced concrete base slabs using BAMTEC® reinforcement technology. This method, which uses prefabricated rolled reinforcement mats, allowed for faster installation and high precision. In total, 62 tons of steel and 425 cubic meters of concrete were used to create a durable foundation for the modular buildings.

The result is a showcase of efficient, coordinated construction, demonstrating how comprehensive groundworks from a single provider can reduce time, cost, and complexity while delivering high quality results.
